President Stubb to pay official visit to the Czech Republic: Focus on European security

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb will pay an official visit to the Czech Republic on 4–5 May 2026.

During the visit, discussions will focus on bilateral relations between the two countries, economic and security cooperation, Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and its implications for energy security, the security of NATO’s eastern member states, as well as transatlantic relations.

The programme will begin on Monday 4 May with a welcome ceremony and official discussions at Prague Castle with President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel.

Later in the day, President Stubb will meet Jiří Drahoš, Vice-President of the Senate, and Tomio Okamura, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.

The first day of the visit will conclude with an official dinner at Prague Castle hosted by President Pavel.

On Tuesday 5 May, President Stubb and President Pavel will participate in a Finnish–Czech Business Forum.

Next, President Stubb will have a meeting with Andrej Babiš, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, followed by a working lunch with experts on security policy issues.

In the afternoon, President Stubb and President Pavel will participate in the 2026 edition of the Europe as a Task conference, dedicated to key European challenges from a global perspective. President Stubb will deliver the keynote address titled “Ensuring European Security in the World Disorder”. After the speech, the theme will be taken forward in a high-level chat with President Pavel and in a meeting with students.

President Stubb will be accompanied by Minister of Social Security Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, Member of Parliament Mikko Savola and a business delegation. The companies represented are Abloy, Aiforia Technologies, BeeHealthy, Bittium, Conlog, CPE Production, DigiFinland, Ensto Group, Helkama-Auto, ICEYE, IQM Quantum Computers, KONE, Kone Cranes, KONTIO, KT-Shelter, Lumon Invest, Nokia Solutions and Networks, Nordic Healthcare, Patria, Peikko Group Corporation, Planmeca, Proventia, Satatuote, Stora Enso, Temet, Wärtsilä and YIT.

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb visited the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague in August 2024. The previous bilateral visit to the Czech Republic at the level of heads of state or government was President Martti Ahtisaari’s state visit in 1996.

Office of the President of the Republic of Finland Press release 25/2026 23 April 2026 President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb will attend the 80th birthday celebrations of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on Thursday 30 April 2026 in Stockholm. King Carl XVI Gustaf ascended the throne in 1973 and is the longest-reigning monarch in the country’s history. In the morning, the presidential couple will take part in a Te Deum service in the Royal Palace Church, after which the festivities will continue at the Royal Palace. The King’s birthday celebrations will culminate in a gala dinner in the evening. During the day, President Stubb will also meet Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson for talks on bilateral relations between Finland and Sweden, as well as current foreign and security policy issues.

Tasavallan presidentin kanslia Tiedote 25/2026 23.4.2026 Tasavallan presidentti Alexander Stubb ja hänen puolisonsa Suzanne Innes-Stubb osallistuvat Ruotsin kuningas Kaarle XVI Kustaan 80-vuotissyntymäpäiville Tukholmassa torstaina 30. huhtikuuta 2026. Kuningas Kaarle XVI Kustaa nousi valtaistuimelle 1973, ja hän on maansa historian pisimpään hallinnut kuningas. Presidenttipari osallistuu aamulla kiitosjumalanpalvelukseen Tukholman kuninkaanlinnan kirkossa, minkä jälkeen juhlallisuudet jatkuvat Kuninkaanlinnassa. Kuninkaan syntymäpäiväjuhla huipentuu juhlaillalliseen. Presidentti Stubb tapaa samana päivänä myös Ruotsin pääministeri Ulf Kristerssonin. Tapaamisen aiheena ovat Suomen ja Ruotsin kahdenväliset suhteet sekä ajankohtaiset ulko- ja turvallisuuspoliittiset kysymykset.
