Kempower and APM Terminals have signed a global framework agreement for the supply of charging infrastructure for port terminals

Two of the leading companies in their respective fields are moving forward to ensure fast and reliable electric operations. Kempower, a global frontrunner in DC fast-charging solutions, and APM Terminals, operating resilient and efficient container terminals in 35 countries around the world and part of A. P. Moller - Maersk, have signed a three-year framework agreement on the supply of Kempower’s DC fast-charging technology across APM Terminals’ network. The agreement supports APM Terminals’ roadmap to decarbonise operations via the use of battery-electric container handling equipment and use of renewable energy.

Under the agreement, Kempower’s high-power charging infrastructure will be installed in various terminals across APM Terminals’ global network during the next three years.

The first three pilot projects have already been started in APM Terminals Yucatán in Mexico, TM2 in Morocco, and Callao in Peru, to accommodate the first electric vehicles in the terminals.

“We are honoured to be part of APM Terminal’s electrification roadmap and support them with their net zero targets. Kempower’s robust and reliable charging technology will support APM Terminals to keep their electric fleet on the move and optimise the operations,” said Kempower’s Chief Sales Officer Mathias Wiklund.

“Electrification is central to our pathway towards net zero by 2040, particularly as we transition diesel‑powered terminal equipment to electric alternatives. Through this Global Frame Agreement, Kempower becomes a key partner in enabling a consistent and scalable charging infrastructure, supporting both our decarbonisation objectives and future‑ready charging solution that supports sustainable operations across our terminals,” said Grant Morrison, Global Head of Asset Category Management, APM Terminals.

The three-year frame agreement between Kempower and APM Terminals does not include binding order volumes. APM Terminals will place individual orders with Kempower according to their own investment plans and needs. Kempower discloses significant orders in accordance with the company’s disclosure policy once such orders have been confirmed.
