22.6.2026 09:00:00 EEST | DNA Oyj | Press release
The City of Oulu has selected DNA as the provider of its regional networks and internet connections. The aim of the cooperation is to ensure reliable and scalable data communications connections. At the same time, DNA will invest in the Oulu region and expand its fiber connections in the area.

Under the agreement, DNA will implement a data communications network for the City of Oulu, covering approximately 300 corporate network connections, and will also supply the city with data center and internet connections. The solutions ensure service reliability as well as flexible capacity management in line with the city’s needs.
The overall solution also includes special arrangements, such as gaming connections operating separately from the City’s corporate network, as well as flexibility to meet growing capacity needs during city events or other special requirements.
The service package further includes a comprehensive deployment project, service management, continuous monitoring and expert services to ensure smooth implementation, functionality, and continuous development of the solution.
“Reliable and flexible data communications connections are a key part of the City’s service production. Through the tendering process, the City of Oulu obtained cost-efficient data communications services that enable the development of future services,” says Tapio Matinmikko, CIO of the City of Oulu.
“The solution to be implemented for the City of Oulu ensures service continuity and supports the advancement of digitalisation in one of Finland’s most innovative cities. At the same time, it supports both critical everyday services for residents and the development of new digital services. We will continue to invest in AI-capable connections in Northern Finland, and we are currently building a new fibre network in Oulu for the benefit of residents,” says Anna-Mari Ylihurula, SVP, Corporate Business at DNA.
“It is great to collaborate with the City of Oulu. Oulu is developing future connectivity on many fronts in the 6G Rocket project led by the University of Oulu, in which DNA is the only operator involved. The project develops AI-enabled radio networks (AI-RAN) and tests future 6G solutions together with world-class partners,” Ylihurula continues.
