Fourth generation of the Nordic region’s most popular motorboat, the Buster L, debuts in Helsinki
12.8.2026 11:03:46 EEST | Buster Boats | Press release
Buster is renewing the Nordic region’s most popular motorboat. The new, fourth-generation Buster L will make its debut at the Uiva Flytande In-Water Boat Show in Helsinki on 13–16 August. The new models will also be on display at other Nordic boat shows: at the Karlshamn Boat Show in Sweden on 14–16 August, at Allt På Sjön in Gustavsberg on 28–30 August, and at Båter i Sjøen in Oslo on 28–31 August.

“The new Buster L has been designed from the hull up using today’s expertise and to meet the demands of today’s boaters. Its external dimensions remain unchanged, but the boat is now roomier and more stable. It carries six people and a good amount of cargo, yet it is still easy to transport on a trailer behind an ordinary passenger car,” says Buster Sales and Marketing Director Artturi Niittynen.
The versatile Buster L has been part of the aluminium boat manufacturer’s model range since 1994. Its dimensions and features immediately proved well suited to the needs of Nordic boaters, people spending time at their holiday homes and recreational anglers, and the model quickly became particularly popular in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
Four different versions for different uses
The new Buster L will be available in four different versions, designed for different users and different purposes. The basic Buster L1 has a single side-mounted console, while the Buster Lcc features a centre console. The Buster L2 is a dual-console version offering good protection for passengers on the aft bench, while the Buster Lx comes with separate seats for the driver and passenger and provides seating for five people behind the protection of the windscreens.
The Buster Lx comes as standard with a fixed 53-litre fuel tank, and the same tank is also available for the other models as a factory-installed option.
“This allows us to serve different types of users. If there is no marine fuel station in the area where you use your boat, a portable fuel tank that can easily be carried in the car may be the more practical solution. On the other hand, if there is a fuel station along your regular boating routes, a fixed tank is easy to fill,” Niittynen says.
The consoles have been completely redesigned, and the Buster Q smart display now has an ergonomically ideal position on the right-hand side of the console. The new Float mount 10-inch Buster Q display is standard equipment on the Buster Lx and is available as an option on the other versions. The consoles on all models are equipped with both USB-C and USB-A sockets for charging smart devices, as well as a separate 12-volt power outlet.
More interior space than before
The new Buster L is 5.12 metres long and 1.95 metres wide. Compared with the previous, third-generation Buster L, the maximum hull length is one centimetre shorter, and the boat is four centimetres narrower, but thanks to the new design the interior dimensions are more generous than before. All versions are self-draining for rainwater, so they can be left at the dock without concern.
The heavier Buster Lx has a maximum engine power of 60 hp, while the maximum for the other models is 50 hp. Top speed with the maximum engine power is approximately 28 knots.
The single-console models weigh 459 kg without the engine, the dual-console L2 weighs 468 kg and the Lx version weighs 510 kg. The maximum load for all versions is 572 kg, including passengers and cargo.
The hull of every model is made from durable, low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant AW 5754 marine-grade aluminium. The bottom material is 4 mm thick. All models have a non-slip patterned aluminium deck. The boats are unsinkable, ensured by almost 700 litres of water-resistant buoyancy material that does not absorb water.
Fishing equipment available for every version
The Buster L can be ordered factory-equipped as a Fishing Edition. It includes a bow casting platform with a fishing seat, as well as a flat hatch on the aft deck that replaces the canopy storage compartment and turns the aft deck into a large casting platform as well. A practical bracket on the side of the bow for a bow-mounted electric trolling motor is also available.
“In recent years, we have received a lot of requests for fishing equipment for this popular model, and the model renewal now gave us the opportunity to make it happen,” Niittynen says.
Casting-fishing equipment is also available for the smaller Buster S and Buster M models as well as the larger Buster XL and XXL versions.
Buster L boats have been manufactured at Inha Works in Ähtäri, Finland since 1994. The history of the model goes back even further, however, as it was originally designed to replace the similarly sized Big Buster, which was produced from 1984 to 1993.
In today’s model range, the Buster L is no longer particularly “big”; in terms of size, it sits around the middle of the range. The smallest Buster is the three-person Buster Mini, which can also be rowed, while the largest is the luxurious ten-metre Buster Phantom Cabin, an all-season commuter boat for up to 12 people.
Available options include Softdeck flooring, a harbour cover, a water-ski and equipment arch at the stern, a rod box, rod holders and seat cushions. The Buster Q smart display can be expanded with sonar, a Fishfinder fishing sonar and the Guard package, which makes it possible to monitor, among other things, the boat’s location, bilge and battery voltage through the Buster App on your own mobile device.
The optional Comfort Edition package includes seat cushions for the single-console models. On the dual-console models, it also includes a practical canopy covering the aft section of the boat.
The coloured upper section of the hull side can be ordered in five different finishes: Black Satin Metallic, Black Satin, Grey Blue Satin Metallic, White Pearl Satin and Signature Red. Grey hull sides and an epoxy primer on the bottom are also available as factory-order options.
Production of the new Buster L range has already started in Ähtäri, Finland, and customer deliveries will begin in the autumn.
