Invitation for press conference: LUMI-AI tenfolds AI capacity, powering breakthroughs across industry and academia

Dear media representative,

We are delighted to invite you to the press conference of LUMI-AI, the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s next-generation supercomputer, on Monday 31^st August 2026 at 13.00 EEST at CSC’s auditorium in Espoo, Finland. Remote participation will also be possible.

LUMI-AI will deliver a tenfold increase in artificial intelligence (AI) capacity compared to the current LUMI supercomputer. It will be located in CSC’s data center in Kajaani, Finland. In this press conference, we will reveal the system vendor and other technology partners. Our distinguished speakers will give key insights into the system, as well as discuss the impact this state-of-the-art supercomputer has on European research and innovation.

LUMI-AI is a core element of the LUMI AI Factory, which is the EU’s biggest AI Factory. This major investment, funded in collaboration with the EuroHPC JU and six participating countries, continues to build on the strong foundations and proven excellence of the current LUMI supercomputer. Come and hear how the new system will enable groundbreaking research, accelerate industrial innovation and help translate advances in AI into real-world solutions for some of today’s most pressing challenges. The press conference will also cover quantum technologies, especially the recently announced LUMI-IQ quantum computer, which will be tightly integrated into the LUMI-AI environment.
