Kempower served as charging partner of Secto Rally Finland for second consecutive year

The global DC fast charging manufacturer, Kempower, has supplied motorsport event Secto Rally Finland with EV charging solutions for the second consecutive year. Kempower was once again named the official charging partner of the event and facilitated the charging of the rally’s fleet of electric support vehicles across the route.

As an official sponsor, Toyota supplied the event with 64 vehicles in total of which 34 were plug-in hybrids or fully electric vehicles. The vehicles were used by the organizer, AKK Motorsport, to support the transportation of supplies and staff across Jyväskylä and the surrounding area in Central Finland, where the Finnish round of the FIA World Rally Championship was held.

Six mobile Kempower chargers were deployed at strategic locations in Jyväskylä and were remotely monitored and controlled by Kempower’s team using ChargEye, its cloud-based charging management system. More than 720 kWh of power was deployed in total throughout the race and vehicles could recharge in an average of 60 minutes.

51.5% of the service vehicle fleet was electric, up from 45% in last year’s race, reflecting Secto Rally Finland’s ambition to reduce the event’s carbon footprint.  Environmental responsibility, community engagement and measurable impact are embedded into all aspects of the event and Secto Rally Finland was named the Most Sustainable Sport Event at the prestigious UN Tourism & FIA Awards for Excellence in Sustainable Sports Tourism in March 2026.

Secto Rally Finland was inaugurated in 1951 and is the fastest event in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Erik Kanerva, Kempower’s Sales Director for North Europe, represented Kempower as a speaker at Spark the Future, a seminar event held during the rally bringing together the sports and mobility industry to discuss technological and sector developments.

Kanerva said: “In a rally, service and support vehicles move across a wide area. For the second year, we have provided our charging services to support the temporary charging needs of the rally and made it possible to integrate electric vehicles into a large and demanding event. It marks a major step toward lower-emission motorsport and we’re proud to support Secto Rally Finland in this.”
