Major sports event for children and young people brings thousands of pupils from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area to Espoo on Thursday 24 September

School Action Day, the Finnish flagship event of the European Week of Sport, will take place on Thursday 24 September at Leppävaara Sports Park in Espoo. A total of 165 school classes and approximately 3,500 pupils have registered for the event.
School Action Day is part of the European Week of Sport, which is celebrated across Europe each year from 23 to 30 September. Initiated by the European Commission, the campaign aims to encourage people to be physically active and discover the joy of movement.
Espoo is the capital of children and youth
School Action Day offers pupils in grades 3–9 from across the Helsinki Metropolitan Area the opportunity to spend their school day being active, trying new sports and experiencing the joy of exercise together with others. During the day, participants will have access to 60 sport stations organised by sports clubs, physical activity organisations, national sport federations and numerous partners. Each participant will enjoy at least 90 minutes of guided activity.
Activities include tennis, football, circus, dance, capoeira, basketball, gymnastics, performance cheer, table tennis, floorball, athletics and esports.
Following the opening ceremony, among others Deputy Mayor of Helsinki Shawn Huff and Member of the European Parliament Sebastian Tynkkynen will tour the sport stations in Kameleonten together with pupils and visit the event square.
Ambassador athletes inspire children and young people to be active
The event will feature ambassador athletes representing the Espoo-based clubs Cetus, Esport Oilers and FC Honka. Laura Linnala from FC Honka Women's First Team and Kariim Al-Wehliye from FC Honka Men's First Team will attend the event. Esport Oilers will be represented by goalkeeper Markus Laakso. Cetus's ambassador athlete Iiris Nurmi. The athletes will encourage children and young people to be active and host sport-specific challenges at the event square. FC Honka’s ambassador athletes will be present from 12:00 to 12:30. The other ambassador athletes will be present throughout the entire event.
We warmly welcome media representatives to attend the event, interview organisers and guests, and capture the atmosphere of this shared day of physical activity for thousands of children and young people.
Photo permissions have been collected in advance for some school classes. Media representatives can obtain further information from the event information desk regarding activity stations and classes with confirmed photo permissions. In all other cases, permission should be verified with the class teacher. The information tent is located at the event square next to Leppävaara Stadium and can be identified by the Espoo liikkuu logo.

I enlighet med stadsstyrelsens beslut i mars håller staden på att utvidga zonerna för avgiftsbelagd parkering. Den nya skyltningen inleds i oktober i Hagalund och Otnäs. Fordonens förare ombeds att hålla koll på vägmärkena vid parkering, eftersom avgifterna träder i kraft genast när vägmärkena har bytts ut. Att parkeringen är avgiftsbelagd visas med vägmärken enligt bilden. Via länkarna i slutet av detta meddelande kan du ladda ner en karta och en förteckning över de gator som ändringarna gäller. Parkeringens pris och tiden då parkeringen är avgiftsbelagd I zon 1 kostar parkering 3,50 euro per timme och i zon 2 kostar det 2,5 euro per timme. Kaupunginhallituksen maaliskuussa tekemän päätöksen mukaisesti Espoossa ollaan laajentamassa maksullisen pysäköinnin vyöhykkeitä. Liikennemerkkien muutostyöt aloitetaan Tapiolan ja Otaniemen alueella lokakuussa. Kuljettajia pyydetään tarkkailemaan liikennemerkkejä pysäköidessään, sillä maksullisuus astuu heti voimaan, kun liikennemerkit on vaihdettu. Pysäköinnin maksullisuus osoitetaan kuvan mukaisilla liikennemerkeillä. Tiedotteen lopussa olevista linkeistä voi ladata kartan ja luettelon kaduista, joilla muutoksia tapahtuu. Pysäköinnin hinta ja maksullisuuden voimassaoloaika Pysäköinti maksaa 1. vyöhykkeellä 3,5 euroa / tunti ja 2. vyöhykkeellä 2,5 euroa / tunti. In accordance with the decision made by the City Board in March, paid parking zones in Espoo will be expanded. The city will start updating traffic signs in October in the Tapiola and Otaniemi areas. Drivers are advised to check traffic signs when parking, as the parking fees will take effect immediately once the signs have been replaced. Paid parking is indicated by traffic signs as shown in the image. Click on the links at the bottom of this page to find a map and a list of the streets affected. Parking fees and paid parking hours Parking costs €3.50 per hour in zone 1 and €2.50 per hour in zone 2. Parking fees are charged from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 20:00, on Saturdays from 8:00 to 18:00 and, in zone 1, also on Sundays from 8:00 to 18:00.
