18 charging points across three locations support a fleet of 15 electric buses and 5 hydrogen fuel-cell buses to advance zero-emission public transport in the Małopolska region in southeastern Poland.

Polish public transport operator Koleje Małopolskie runs an extensive network of feeder bus routes that connect local communities with the railway network. During 2026, Koleje Małopolskie completed the deployment of a large-scale electric bus charging infrastructure project in the Małopolska region, supporting the operation of a new fleet of electric buses and advancing the transition toward zero-emission public transport.

Delivered in partnership with Kempower and BIBUS MENOS, the project includes 18 charging points across three locations, Kraków, Tarnów, and Proszowice, with a total installed charging capacity of 1.4 MW. The deployment is Kempower’s  largest electric bus charging infrastructure project in Poland so far.

The charging infrastructure will support the daily operation of 15 electric and 5 fuel-cell buses purchased by Koleje Małopolskie as part of its fleet electrification initiative. The fleet consists of 4 MIDI-class buses supplied by MAN Truck & Bus Polska, 11 MAXI-class buses supplied by Solaris Bus & Coach, and also 5 MEGA-class articulated Mercedes Benz eCitaro hydrogen fuel-cell buses.

As the project delivery partner and system integrator, BIBUS MENOS was responsible for the complete implementation of the charging infrastructure, ensuring successful deployment within the required timeframe. The charging solution utilizes Kempower’s distributed charging system and Satellites, supported with a Station Charger in the remote location, and a Movable Charger for service purposes.

All locations are managed with Kempower’s ChargEye Pro system, which, in full collaboration with all three OEMs, is also responsible for vehicle scheduling and preconditioning. Everything is designed to provide efficient, reliable, and scalable charging for electric bus operations.

The project demonstrates how intelligently designed charging infrastructure and dynamic power distribution can support the demanding requirements of public transport operators. The scalable solution enables efficient charging management while optimizing power utilization across the fleet.

"The Koleje Małopolskie project demonstrates how properly designed charging infrastructure can efficiently support the daily operation of electric bus fleets," said Jakub Preinl, Business Development Director at BIBUS MENOS. "Together with Kempower, we delivered an 18-point charging system across three locations, providing flexible power distribution, efficient charging management, and a reliable foundation for the operator's transition toward zero-emission public transport."

The project highlights the strong cooperation between Koleje Małopolskie, BIBUS MENOS, and Kempower, whose close collaboration enabled the successful design, implementation, and commissioning of the charging infrastructure. The deployment provides a future-ready foundation for the continued electrification of public transport services throughout the Małopolska region.

"This project shows how scalable, high-performance charging infrastructure can enable reliable electric bus operations today while supporting fleet growth tomorrow, accelerating the shift toward zero-emission public transport. We needed to fit into not always perfect locations, which become possible thanks to using distributed charging solutions.", said Kempower’s Business Development Manager Grzegorz Kujawa.

By supporting the operation of electric buses on regional routes, the project contributes to reducing transport emissions, reducing transport poverty and advancing sustainable mobility in southern Poland.

REMO powers Iberia with Kempower chargers across truck, bus and passenger car charging2.10.2026 10:30:00 EEST | Press release

Portuguese charge point operator REMO, part of the Mota-Engil group, is deploying and operating Kempower fast chargers across Spain and Portugal to support the expansion of charging infrastructure in the Iberia region. REMO’s deployments span all highway e-mobility applications, covering both public and depot-based charging for passenger cars, trucks and e-buses in a single, distributed network. Iberia has become one of Europe's fastest-moving electrification stories. In Portugal, electrically-chargeable vehicle registrations set a record in 2025 with 90,000 new EVs on the roads, while Spain is scaling both vehicles and high-power infrastructure at pace, doubling the number of public charge points to close to 50,000. With a goal to provide charging wherever people and goods move across Iberia – including retail and hospitality sites, freight corridors and commercial depots – REMO is one of the first charging operators in Iberia to cover the three major charging segments defining today’

REMO laajentaa Iberian sähköisen liikenteen latausinfrastruktuuria Kempowerin pikalatausjärjestelmillä2.10.2026 10:30:00 EEST | Tiedote

Kempower toimi Secto Rally Finlandin latauskumppanina jo toista vuotta18.9.2026 10:00:00 EEST | Tiedote

Kempower oli mukana Secto Rally Finlandin heinä-elokuun vaihteessa järjestetyssä Suomen MM-rallissa sähköautojen virallisena latausratkaisukumppanina toisena peräkkäisenä vuonna. Kempowerin latureilla varmistettiin rallin ladattavien tukiautojen lataukset reitin varrella.
