The Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme has attracted visitors to northern Finland and contributed to strong tourism growth. According to Visit Oulu statistics, Oulu recorded nearly 475,000 registered overnight stays between January and August 2026, an increase of 12 per cent year on year. International overnight stays rose by 21 per cent to more than 96,600, while domestic overnight stays increased by 9 per cent. The trend continued in August, when international overnight stays grew by almost 29 per cent year on year.

Hundreds of events combining art, technology, science, music, theatre and sport continue throughout the final months of 2026.

“The programme’s diversity is clearest in the final months. There is something for culture enthusiasts and families alike, with experiences that cannot be found anywhere else. If ever there was a time to visit Oulu, it is now,” says Samu Forsblom, Programme Director of Oulu2026.

A major highlight is the Lumo Art & Tech Festival, taking place across Oulu from 13 to 22 November. Icelandic artist Björk will present three audiovisual installations: Ancestress and Sorrowful Soil, first exhibited in Reykjavík earlier this year, and Björk Orkestral. She will also perform a DJ set on 15 November.

Across 16 venues and outdoor locations, the festival presents immersive exhibitions, light, sound and media art, performances and talks. It builds on Oulu’s history as a technology centre and its status as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts.

Opening on 9 October, the new Tiima museum and science centre features VISIO, an interactive experience space taking visitors from outer space and the Northern Lights to digital art.

Other highlights include Beyond the Sky, a world-premiere production combining cosmic imagery by Oulu-based astrophotographer Jukka-Pekka Metsävainio with music by Finnish composer Lauri Porra, the great-grandson of Jean Sibelius. Oulu Sinfonia, soloists and a project choir will perform under conductor Dalia Stasevska.

The year culminates in December with the world premiere of the Christmas musical Snowball and Winter Classic 2026, an open-air ice hockey game between Oulu-based Kärpät and Helsinki-based HIFK.

Oulu is the European Capital of Culture in 2026 with 39 partner municipalities in northern Finland.

Invivoscribe ® Advances Molecular Clonality Testing Portfolio with Comprehensive LymphoTrack ® Flex Suite6.10.2026 13:15:00 EEST | Press release

Invivoscribe, a global leader in precision diagnostics and measurable residual disease (MRD) testing, today announced the launch of the complete LymphoTrack Flex suite, an integrated next-generation sequencing (NGS) solution to identify and track immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor gene rearrangements. As NGS-based immune receptor MRD analysis moves from academic laboratories into routine use in oncology research centers, the demand for standardized, high-throughput workflows is accelerating. Laboratories are seeking both greater efficiency and ultra-high sensitivity. This requires increasing DNA inputs while ensuring higher testing throughput and analytical performance. Translational programs need testing that is both reproducible and scalable across sites. LymphoTrack Flex meets these demands, bringing seven molecular targets (IGHV leader, IGH FR1, IGH FR2, IGH FR3, IGK, TRB and TRG), together in one automation-ready workflow with massively parallel multiplexing and a powerful bioinfo

Degreed Agents Enable Every Leader to Upskill Their Organization with Ease6.10.2026 13:00:00 EEST | Press release

Degreed was born with the mission to help everyone get credit for all of their learning and skills. Today, the company announces the latest phase of that journey with the release of Degreed agents, a connected system of AI agents that lets leaders and L&D teams automate personalized learning and skill building. Leaders set the direction, agents do the work, and together they form the foundation of a hybrid operating system for their workforce. Businesses today run workforce transformations as a relay. The CEO sets a mandate to get everyone AI-fluent. A talent leader then defines the end state while managers try to spot gaps on their own teams. L&D pulls reports by hand and builds what they can. Each handoff adds a delay. Now, agents can orchestrate all of that in real time. Degreed agents notice details that matter, like a promotion, a skill gap, or an engagement dip, and act on them without requiring a manager to notice, an admin to flag it, or L&D to build it. At launch, agents build

Smartstream, the trusted data solutions provider for leading global financial institutions and enterprises, today announced that Rothera, the U.S.-based CFTC-regulated event contract market, has gone live on Smartstream’s Air. Rothera has deployed Smartstream’s Cash and Data modules to automate high-volume derivatives reconciliations across its CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse business. As transaction volumes on the exchange grew, Rothera sought to scale and automate its existing reconciliation processes to support greater operational efficiency and robust audit controls. To support this growth, Rothera selected Air’s Cash and Data modules as a new implementation. The AI-powered platform ingests, matches, and reconciles high-volume data flows with minimal manual intervention, providing a fully audited environment aligned with regulatory obligations of a CFTC-regulated venue. Following an initial go-live for two data reconciliations: Exchange-to-Clearing Instruments and Exchang

Convatec Survey Challenges Assumptions About Leakage in Ostomy Care6.10.2026 10:00:00 EEST | Press release

Convatec, a leading medical products and technologies company focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions, today released Rethinking leakage in ostomy care, new international research highlighting a significant gap in how peristomal skin health is understood and managed in ostomy care. The findings indicate that skin health plays a critical role in preventing leakage, and supporting confidence in daily life, yet remains widely under-recognised in routine care. For many people, leakage is not only a clinical or product issue; it can shape whether they feel able to travel, exercise, socialise or take part fully in everyday life. More than half of respondents said they avoid such activities due to worry about their ostomy. The results of the survey, which included more than 1,800 people living with an ostomy and over 400 healthcare professionals, point to a significant opportunity to improve outcomes through greater focus on peristomal skin health, the specific area of s
