OPEX® Corporation, a global leader in Next Generation Automation providing innovative solutions for warehouse, document and mail automation, has announced the launch of Axis™, a new document scanner that brings the benefits of one-touch scanning to a simplified, single-bin configuration. Designed for document capture workflows where minimal document preparation, mixed media handling or operational simplicity are priorities, Axis bridges the gap between OPEX’s desktop scanner series and its multi-bin production scanner portfolio.

“We developed Axis in direct response to market demands,” said Dann Worrell, President, Document and Mail Automation, OPEX. “Our customers want to simplify their scanning processes, reduce operating costs, and improve quality. Axis delivers on these priorities by combining our minimal-prep, One-Touch scanning technology with a single-bin design. With a lower market accessible entry point, Axis helps customers process documents more efficiently while achieving more consistent results.”

OPEX’s newest solution is built on a production-class transport architecture, supporting both continuous batch scanning and scan-from-folder workflows on a single platform. It manages auto feed and drop feed, and handles mixed sizes, weights and conditions. Capable of scanning up to 120 ppm, Axis is designed for any scanning operation that handles mixed document types and spends more significant hours prepping documents before scanning. It is ideal for businesses looking for simplified deployment, flexible workstation options, and a focused, purpose-built alternative to multi-bin production systems.

Axis is available in two models to support varying deployment requirements. The Axis includes an integrated workstation with system component mounts, while the AXIS-M (mobile) offers a foldable support structure designed for relocation between work areas or sites.

“Our team is always focused on building new solutions that enable all types of businesses to improve workflow, drive efficiencies, and solve challenges,” said Scott Maurer, President, International Division, OPEX. “Axis represents the midpoint in our document scanning portfolio, providing a cost-effective approach for advanced document capture applications when physical sorting and dedicated, MICR-based payment processing aren’t required.”

The Axis document scanner enables operators to capture documents with a streamlined, one-touch process, reducing manual handling and improving productivity. Axis supports scan-on-demand, overflow, and distributed capture operations, without requiring workflow-specific scanner configurations. With its single output design, Axis is well suited for archive, backfile conversion, and folder-based scanning applications, where documents are captured and returned in their original order. Additional features include an integrated 22” touchscreen display, a rescan feeder, a document conditioning roller, ultrasonic sensors to detect multi-feed conditions, and more.

Axis joins the existing portfolio of advanced document scanning solutions at OPEX, which includes Falcon®+, Falcon®+ RED™, Gemini®, and Velo™ Powered by Inotec®. It is the first OPEX-designed hardware platform to support a customer-supplied PC Controller and planned TWAIN connectivity, expanding deployment flexibility and integration options while maintaining compatibility with OPEX workflows.

OPEX will debut Axis at ARMA InfoCon 2026, scheduled from October 25 through 28, at the Savannah Convention Center in Georgia, with live demonstrations in Booth #803. Axis will also be available for demonstration at our world headquarters in Moorestown, NJ, and EMEA headquarters in Duisburg, Germany.

Convatec Survey Challenges Assumptions About Leakage in Ostomy Care6.10.2026 10:00:00 EEST | Press release

Convatec, a leading medical products and technologies company focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions, today released Rethinking leakage in ostomy care, new international research highlighting a significant gap in how peristomal skin health is understood and managed in ostomy care. The findings indicate that skin health plays a critical role in preventing leakage, and supporting confidence in daily life, yet remains widely under-recognised in routine care. For many people, leakage is not only a clinical or product issue; it can shape whether they feel able to travel, exercise, socialise or take part fully in everyday life. More than half of respondents said they avoid such activities due to worry about their ostomy. The results of the survey, which included more than 1,800 people living with an ostomy and over 400 healthcare professionals, point to a significant opportunity to improve outcomes through greater focus on peristomal skin health, the specific area of s
