MetPsy, a global network for metabolic psychiatry, launches with $20M Baszucki Group grant for new McLean Hospital clinical care and research center.

“Over the past five years, metabolic psychiatry has evolved from a few foundational projects into a dynamic, global movement,” said Kirk Nylen, PhD, Executive Director of MetPsy. “Real scientific breakthroughs don’t happen in isolation; they require strong points of connection. MetPsy was created to be that unifying catalyst, bridging scientific and clinical disciplines to translate research into life-changing treatments for people living with severe mental illness. We are proud to launch this global initiative to drive the future of psychiatric care.”

Metabolic psychiatry is the study of how metabolism influences brain function and mental health. While neurologists have used metabolic approaches to treat brain disorders like epilepsy for more than a century, the application of this approach to psychiatric illness is an emerging area of study and practice. Over the past decade, a growing body of research has demonstrated the potential of metabolic treatments such as ketogenic therapy to improve both metabolic health and psychiatric symptoms in serious mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

As the field expands, demand for resources has grown among researchers and clinicians, as well as the patients they serve. MetPsy addresses this need by providing a centralized network for professional collaboration, shared resources, access to accredited courses, and tools for advancing clinical practice. Backed by foundational support from Baszucki Group, MetPsy aims to include organizations working across all areas of metabolic psychiatry, catalyzing future discoveries and better care.

“The launch of MetPsy reflects our family’s commitment to continuing to advance the field of metabolic psychiatry worldwide,” said Jan Ellison Baszucki, Co-Founder of Baszucki Group. “As this network grows, we hope fellow funders will join us in expanding access to evidence-based metabolic interventions—a clinical approach that has restored the health and future of our son Matthew, and offers that same hope to many more.”

The McLean Center for Metabolic Psychiatry will advance the goals of MetPsy through its core pillars. Dr. Dost Öngür serves as Center Director, overseeing a clinical care center, a research program, and a medical education and training initiative which is co-led by MH² and Dr. Christopher Palmer. Located in Belmont, Massachusetts, McLean Hospital serves as a teaching affiliate for Harvard Medical School and is consistently ranked as the top freestanding psychiatric hospital by U.S. News &World Report.

“Our multidisciplinary team brings together significant clinical and research expertise to expand patient care, offering the first mental healthcare service focused on ketogenic therapy within a larger, established institution,” said Center Director Dost Öngür, MD, PhD, Chief of the Psychotic Disorders Division at McLean Hospital and William P. and Henry B. Test Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. “The Center will demonstrate the feasibility of integrated metabolic care and provide an operational blueprint for other academic medical centers worldwide.”

"Advancing emerging approaches to mental health care requires an integrated model that spans research, clinical practice, and specialized medical education. Through this unique model, we are establishing the evidence base and training protocols needed to support multiple dimensions of metabolic psychiatry,” said Christopher M. Palmer, MD, Founder and President of MH², Director of the Metabolic and Mental Health Program at McLean Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Amadeus Explores Next-Generation Flight Search with NVIDIA21.10.2026 15:00:00 EEST | Press release

Amadeus and NVIDIA have been collaborating to explore how accelerated computing and travel-specific AI could support faster, more scalable and more efficient flight search. Building on this work, the companies have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen their collaboration and accelerate further exploration. As AI assistants increasingly search on behalf of travelers, they are changing both the volume and complexity of demand placed on travel technology. Amadeus, in collaboration with NVIDIA, have already conducted initial technical assessments and benchmarking activities, on the NVIDIA Hopper and Blackwell platform, NVIDIA's accelerated computing architectures designed for AI and high-performance computing workloads, to better understand how accelerated computing could support large-scale travel shopping workloads. Through the MoU, Amadeus and NVIDIA will continue this collaboration, with aims to deliver faster, more scalable and more efficient flight search as AI-po

Starburst Introduces Starburst Torin, a GPU-Native Analytics Engine Built on NVIDIA cuDF21.10.2026 14:30:00 EEST | Press release

Starburst today announced limited general availability of Starburst Torin, a GPU-native, Trino-based analytics engine for Starburst Enterprise. Built on NVIDIA cuDF, Torin accelerates SQL workloads with native GPU execution, delivering up to 7x faster query performance.1 By complementing Starburst’s existing CPU engine, Torin gives enterprises the flexibility to run workloads on CPUs or GPUs without changing existing Trino SQL queries, applications, or agents. AI agents create a different kind of load on data platforms. A single agent task can trigger a chain of dependent queries, where delays in one query can slow the entire workflow. These bottlenecks also affect interactive analytics, making it harder to explore data, evaluate results, and make decisions in real time. Faster query execution helps agents complete analytical work sooner, improves user responsiveness, and lets teams run more workloads on available infrastructure. Meanwhile, enterprises are investing in NVIDIA AI infras

Compvide Announces Commercial Launch of CIMED and Presents New Research at European Meeting on Complement in Human Disease (EMCHD) 202621.10.2026 13:47:00 EEST | Press release

Compvide, Inc. today announced the commercial launch of its CIMED platform. The CIMED-AP, CIMED-LP, and CIMED-CP kits assess the alternative, lectin, and classical complement pathways, respectively, using 50% serum to support testing under more physiological conditions. The commercial launch follows Compvide’s participation in the 20th European Meeting on Complement in Human Disease (EMCHD), held September 1–5, 2026, in Cardiff, Wales. Through a scientific presentation, poster, and exhibition, the company shared research highlighting the importance of assay conditions in evaluating complement activity and the effects of complement-targeting therapies. Unlike conventional assays that often use highly diluted serum, CIMED assays use 50% serum. Research presented by Compvide at EMCHD highlighted how serum dilution can influence measurements of complement inhibition, particularly at lower drug concentrations. These findings underscore the importance of assay conditions when evaluating pote
