At a Presidential session on 27 May 2021, President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö appointed Hiski Haukkala DrSocSc as Secretary General of the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland. Haukkala will take up the post of Secretary General and at the same time Head of the Presidential Cabinet on 1 August. He transfers to the position from the University of Tampere, where he has been Professor of International Relations since 2018. Haukkala has previously served as a Foreign Policy Adviser to the President from 2016 to 2017 and as Secretary General of the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland from 1 January to 31 May 2018.
Jukka Siukosaari, who has been Secretary General and Head of the Presidential Cabinet since June 2018, will become Finland’s Ambassador in London on 1 September 2021.
Tuomas Telkkä MScEng has been appointed Domestic Affairs Adviser to the President of the Republic and Member of the Presidential Cabinet. He will take up his position on 21 July 2021. Telkkä currently works as Advisor, Executive Communications at OP Financial Group. Juuso Rönnholm, the current Special Adviser, Domestic Affairs to the President of the Republic, is transferring to the position of Liaison Manager at BusinessOulu.
Director of Legal Affairs Päivi Pietarinen, Director of Foreign and Security Policy Petri Hakkarainen and Director of Communications Jouni Mölsä continue as members of the Presidential Cabinet.

Office of the President of the Republic of Finland Press release 39/2026 2 June 2026 The President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, and his spouse, Rachel Ruto, will pay a state visit to Finland from 10 to 11 June 2026. The visit will be hosted by the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, and his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb. The main themes of the visit will be deepening bilateral relations between Finland and Kenya, strengthening cooperation between the two countries in international contexts, reforming the multilateral system and promoting trade between Finland and Kenya. On Wednesday 10 June, President Stubb and Mrs Innes-Stubb will receive the presidential couple of Kenya at a welcoming ceremony held in front of the Presidential Palace in Helsinki. Members of the public can watch the ceremony from the Market Square from approximately 10.00 onwards. After the ceremony, official discussions will take place at the Presidential Palace. The visit will be hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb. The two presidents will meet at the Presidential Palace to discuss bilateral relations between Finland and Slovenia, European security, Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine, and other current foreign and security policy issues. Republikens presidents kansli Pressmeddelande 37/2026 20.5.2026 Republikens president Alexander Stubb och hans maka Suzanne Innes-Stubb besöker Rovaniemi 26–27 maj 2026. Tisdagen den 26 maj inspekterar president Stubb Lapplands flygflottilj. Under inspektionsbesöket får presidenten en översikt av verksamheten med Hornet-jaktplanen samt en lägesbild av ibruktagningen av de nya F-35-jaktflygplanen. I programmet ingår också ett möte med personalen vid flygflottiljen. På eftermiddagen kommer presidentparet att träffa allmänheten på Lorditorget i Rovaniemi kl. 16.30. Onsdagen den 27 maj inleds med ett besök vid lågstadiet Vaaranlammen koulu, där presidentparet träffar elever och får ta del av elevuppträdanden.
