Business Finland on myöntänyt Mobidiagille jatkorahoituksen nopean sepsistestin kehitykseen
Molekyylibiologian diagnostisiin ratkaisuihin keskittyvä Mobidiag Oy on tänään julkistanut saaneensa 1,5 miljoonan euron (1,65 miljoonaa dollarin) jatkorahoituksen Business Finlandilta (aiemmin Tekes) nopean, suoraan verestä tehtävän sepsistestin kehitykseen Novodiag -laitealustalleen. Tämä rahoitus on jatkoa toukokuussa 2018 myönnettyyn rahoitukseen ja se myönnettiin projektin vahvan etenemisen ja sen keskeisten tavoitteiden saavuttamisen perusteella. Testin kehitykselle myönnetty kokonaislaina on tämän jälkeen 3 miljoonaa euroa (3,3 miljoonaa dollaria).
Mobidiag hyödyntää Novodiag -laitteensa vahvuuksia nopean, yksinkertaisen ja luotettavan oireiden mukaiseen lähestymistapaan perustuvan sepsistestin kehittämiseksi. Nyt kehitettävällä testillä sepsis voidaan havaita kahden tunnin sisällä suoraan potilaan verinäytteestä. Mobidiagilla on aiempaa kokemusta sepsiksen diagnosointiin keskittyvän testin kehittämisestä, sen entisellä Prove-it -testillä voitiin havaita noin 80 mikrobia suoraan veriviljelynäytteestä.
Sepsis (vakava yleisinfektio, ent. verenmyrkytys) on mahdollisesti henkeä uhkaava tila, jonka aiheuttaa kehon puolustusreaktio infektioon. Sen aikainen havaitseminen ja hoito, yleensä antibiooteilla ja suonensisäisellä nesteytyksellä, ovat kriittisessä asemassa parantamassa potilaan mahdollisuuksia selvitä. Sepsis on merkittävä uhka koko maailman terveystilanteelle. Se koskettaa joka vuosi yli 30 miljoonaa ihmistä ympäri maailmaa ja aiheuttaa jopa 6 miljoonaa kuolemaa vuosittain.
