CIVIS Media Prize 2022 – competition now open! / Closing date: 19 January 2022
The CIVIS Awards are presented in four fields and in various categories:
- VIDEO AWARD: Non-fiction programmes, fiction programmes and social media formats (moving images)
- AUDIO AWARD: Short programmes of up to six minutes, long programmes over six minutes and podcasts
- YOUNG C. AWARD (films, age restriction applies)
- CINEMA AWARD (audience award)
The CIVIS TOP AWARD is an additional prize honouring the best production of the year in the AUDIO, VIDEO and YOUNG C. categories. No direct candidatures can be entered for the CIVIS TOP AWARD.
The total prize money is € 27,000.

The CIVIS Media Prize is sponsored by ARD, represented by WDR, together with the Freudenberg Foundation. ORF, SRG SSR, RTV Slovenia, ARTE, 3sat, phoenix, Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandradio and EBU are media partners. The Federal Government Commissioner for Integration, WDR mediagroup, the German Producers Alliance – Film & Television, VFF Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) are cooperation partners.
The non-profit CIVIS Media Foundation for Integration and Cultural Diversity in Cologne is responsible for organising the competition, jury meetings and award ceremony.
The European CIVIS Media Prize aims to encourage media professionals to deal with topics of migration, integration, cultural diversity and social cohesion in a creative, constructive and, where necessary, (self) critical way.

31.10.2024 – Köln (ots) | The competition for the European CIVIS Media Prize is on. Until 12 December 2024, media professionals from all EU countries and Switzerland can submit entries online on the topics of migration, integration, cultural diversity and related issues of social cohesion. The CIVIS Media Prize honours outstanding achievements in television, radio, internet and social media that promote the peaceful coexistence of people from different geographical and cultural backgrounds. 9.4.2024 Cologne (ots) CIVIS Media Prize 2024 – 25 nominees for Europe's most important media prize for integration and cultural diversity have been shortlisted: Candidates for the CIVIS Media Prize include entries from Aamu Film Company, ACB Stories, ARTE, Deutschlandradio, electronic media school, La Fémis, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, funk, France 2, HFF München, hr, MADE IN GERMANY Filmproduktion, MDR, NDR, RTL+, (SIC) Pictures, SWR, Undone, UFA Documentary, WDR and ZDF. 06.06.2023 – Berlin (ots) | The winners of the European CIVIS Media Prize for Integration and Cultural Diversity 2023 have been announced: The main prize of 15,000 euros, the CIVIS TOP AWARD, goes to the documentary ARTE THEMA: Last Refuge - The House at the Gate to the Sahara (ARTE G.E.I.E), by the author and director Ousmane Samassékou. A work about people on the move, on the southern edge of the Sahara, about their dreams and traumas. The production is also the winner of the CIVIS VIDEO AWARD in the category Information.
