Foreign Minister Haavisto to OSCE Ministerial Council in Łódź, Poland
Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will attend the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which will be held in Łódź, Poland, on 30 November–1 December. Poland holds the OSCE Chairpersonship in 2022.

The Ministerial Council will discuss the far-reaching effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the security situation in Europe and on the OSCE’s activities. Minister Haavisto’s schedule also includes bilateral meetings.
Finland is committed to promoting stability and peace in Europe. Despite the weakened security situation in Europe, the OSCE is a central forum for dialogue between the participating States, and its efforts to resolve conflicts in the OSCE region are an important part of the organisation’s activities. The OSCE has 57 participating States, which means that all European and Central Asian countries as well as the United States and Canada are represented in the cooperation.
The OSCE’s activities are divided into three dimensions: the politico-military dimension, the economic and environmental dimension and the human dimension. These are based on the baskets agreed in the 1975 Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE). Finland will hold the OSCE Chairpersonship in 2025.
The public sessions of the meeting will be streamed live at the OSCE’s website.
