Kempower to deliver fast charging technology to six electric bus depots in Belgium with Powerland
22.6.2022 09:30:00 EEST | Kempower Oyj | Press release

In Flanders, the Flemish part of Belgium, bus operators can receive an annual compensation for switching from a diesel bus to a battery-electric or fuel cell bus. The funding agreement is part of the Flemish Climate Plan where public transport plays an important role. It has been estimated that the subsidy would add 300 electric buses in Flanders in the next three years and reduce CO2 emissions by 50,000 tonnes.
Kempower’s EV fast charging technology will be used to charge Ferry Cars’ and Coachpartners’ electric buses in Belgium. The S-Series charging satellites are connected to Kempower ChargEye, which is a unique remote control platform for electric bus depots. With the platform, charging can be monitored and controlled in real time and the available power can be dynamically distributed to the buses that need charging the most.
The installations at the depots will begin later in 2022. The projects are done in cooperation with Kempower’s partners Powerland and Vandotec NV.
“We are pleased to be involved in the development of cleaner public transport in Belgium and to support the region in reaching its climate goals. These projects are a good continuation of our previous depot project in the country and further strengthen our position in the Benelux area,” says Kempower’s CEO Tomi Ristimäki.
