MFA: Finnish Internet Forum to discuss the future of the internet – sign up now!

The 10th Finnish Internet Forum (FIF) will discuss topical matters related to the future of the internet, including 5G networks, open and decentralised web, and the role of the EU in the development of the internet.

A panel discussion before noon will focus on the regulation of the internet in the EU and its impacts on citizens in the era of AI. A panel discussion in the afternoon will debate the question of how societies will manage to deal with an open internet. Invited speakers will handle the security of 5G networks, while the keynote speaker will focus on the future of the internet from the EU’s perspective.

The event will be held in the auditorium of the Little Parliament on Thursday 6 June 2019 at 9.15–16.00.

To mark the anniversary of the Forum, the event will end with a brief history of the organisation, presented by Johan Helsingius and Yrjö Länsipuro. Participants are welcome to attend a reception at the Sonck conference room on Eteläesplanadi 16 from 17.00 to 19.00.

The Finnish Internet Forum is organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Transport and Communications Committee of Parliament in cooperation with their cooperation partners.

Registration is required. Please note that there is a limited number of seats and participants will be accepted in the order of registration.

Suomi on antanut kansainväliselle rokotusallianssi Gaville 2,5 miljoonan euron rahoituslupauksen rokotehuippukokouksessa 4. kesäkuuta. Suomen tuella edistetään Gavin tavoitetta rokottaa 300 miljoonaa lasta seuraavien viiden vuoden aikana ja vahvistetaan COVID-19-rokotteen yleismaailmallista saatavuutta. Finland har gett ett löfte om finansiering på 2,5 miljoner euro till den globala vaccinalliansen Gavi vid vaccintoppmötet den 4 juni. Stödet från Finland främjar Gavis mål att vaccinera 300 miljoner barn under de följande fem åren och förstärker den globala tillgången till vaccinet mot covid-19. Stödet till hälsovården i de fattigaste länderna förhindrar att smittsamma sjukdomar bryter ut och sprids globalt.

At the Global Vaccine Summit on 4 June 2020, Finland pledged EUR 2.5 million to the Vaccine Alliance Gavi. Finland’s contribution will be used to help Gavi reach its goal to immunise 300 children in the next five years and to strengthen global access to a COVID-19 vaccine. By supporting the healthcare systems of the poorest countries, it is possible to prevent the outbreak and spread of infectious diseases globally.
