MFA: Minister Blomqvist attends meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation
Minister Thomas Blomqvist will chair the first meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation during Finland's Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, which will be held on 11 February 2021.
Finland's Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers started in January 2021. The programme is available in digital format. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first ministerial meeting will be held via video connection.
The meeting will approve next year’s budget proposal for the eleven policy areas of the Council of Ministers and receive an overview of the Council’s financial situation. The ministers will discuss the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Nordic cooperation.
Finland will present its initiative to enhance the Nordic cooperation on security of supply and preparedness. Chief Executive Officer of the National Emergency Supply Agency Janne Känkäinen will visit the meeting.

In 2020, the Unit for Consular Assistance provided nearly twice as much guidance compared to the previous year. In the spring, during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, personal guidance and advice were given to tens of thousands of travellers stranded abroad.
