Netum strengthens its position in the university market
Netum, a strongly growing Finnish IT services company, has been working with education sector projects for more than a decade. It has 18 university clients, five of which purchase Peppi information system services from Netum. The cooperation with Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences started 18 months ago. To strengthen this cooperation, an agreement on the development and maintenance of the Peppi study information system was concluded on 16 June. The agreement is an extension of an earlier maintenance agreement.
Peppi is a study management system developed for Finnish universities, used by most Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences. The system is managed by the Peppi consortium consisting of the participating universities, and the consortium also coordinates the development needs of the software suite. Educational institutions using the Peppi software, such as Haaga-Helia, also conduct supplementary software development in cooperation with the partners of their choice based on the needs of their own systems. Haaga-Helia has such a partnership with Netum.
“When we started working with Haaga-Helia some 18 months ago, we mainly provided maintenance and minor development services. The new agreement takes our cooperation to a deeper level. We have years of experience with the environments and IT requirements of universities as well as Peppi, which gives us strong capabilities for the customer-oriented software development and maintenance of Peppi as well as the development of reporting, for example,” says Jussi Vasama, Netum’s Account Director.
Kimmo Koivisto, Director of Continuity Services at Netum, agrees: “We are excited about the opportunity to develop Peppi in a way that allows the client to utilise it even better in the management and implementation of its processes and services. In practice, this means smoother services for the universities all in all–for students, teachers and the entire staff and stakeholders alike.”
Netum’s clients among universities and universities of applied sciences include, for example, University of Lapland, Lapland University of Applied Sciences and National Defence University in Helsinki. Netum’s services include digital services, system continuity services, integration solutions, cyber security services and management consulting.
CEO Matti Mujunen says that the education sector is one of Netum’s strategic focus areas:
“We have customers of varying sizes in several sectors, including the private sector and the government. Education is one of our focus areas, and we have been building up experience and expertise in this sector by developing digital solutions and ERP, for example, for the education sector for over a decade. Clients in the education sector also turn to us for knowledge management development. The new agreement with Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences proves that our competence is respected and needed. We are happy and honoured to be doing such significant work.”
