Skarta will build a wind farm in Pajuperänkangas with a new customer, ABO Wind

Share

SkartaNYAB Corporation's subsidiary Skarta Finland Oy, a builder of a clean future, has entered into a BoP agreement with ABO Wind for the construction of a wind farm in Pajuperänkangas. The contract includes wind farm roads, lifting areas, foundations, and electrical cabling work in the park area. Construction work will begin in July and finishing work will be completed in the spring 2023. The total value of the contract is approximately 10 MEUR.

Skarta will supply the wind power project to ABO Wind as a Balance of Plant project (BoP). In practice, this means that Skarta is responsible for constructing everything else than the wind turbines. Skarta benefits the Group's expertise in the project in terms of special and infrastructure construction and energy projects. A total of 14 Vestas wind turbines will be built on Pajuperänkangas and the nominal capacity of the wind farm will be approximately 87 megawatts. The wind farm is estimated to start generating electricity from July 2023.

“ABO Wind is a significant new customer for Skarta and we are pleased with the trust shown on us. We hope that this cooperation will expand, grow, and continue in the following projects as well,” says Jaakko Tyyvi, Skarta Finland's Business Area Director.

ABO Wind is a well-known international renewable energy project developer.  The company has 900 employees and businesses in 16 countries. The company offers services from project development to maintenance services. The total capacity of the wind power, solar power and biogas projects developed by the company so far is over 3,700 MW, of which, more than 1,900 MW is constructed by ABO Wind.

“Skarta is a new partner for us, but we quickly reached an agreement with them. Skarta had familiar subcontractors and we also had previous experience in piling work with Niskanen Maansiirto, part of  SkartaNYAB Group. We are embarking on a joint project with confidence”, says Arto Pyhtinen, Senior Construction Manager at ABO Wind.

Skarta has a long and extensive experience in the construction and foundation of wind turbines. Skarta has already been involved in the construction and foundation work of several hundreds of wind farms all over Finland.

“The project schedule is tight, and work is starting fast. The foundations will be laid before the winter”, says Arto Pyhtinen.

Skarta and Tohmajärvi municipality to begin cooperation – Eastern Finland’s largest energy project under planning13.9.2022 10:05:05 EEST | Press release

Clean energy solution provider Skarta Energy Oy and Tohmajärvi municipality are planning solar and wind farms for Tohmajärvi. For this purpose, the company and the municipality have signed a letter of intent to map out the possibilities of renewable energy construction in the Tohmajärvi area. The mapping investigates the construction of several solar and wind parks as well as the areas suitable for their construction. The combined total power of the parks would be 60 MW and, if realised, the project would be the largest energy project in Eastern Finland. “The energy produced by solar and wind power is completely renewable, and together these forms of energy support each other perfectly. The planned project also utilises Skarta’s Near Energy® solutions which increase the availability of competitively priced, clean energy in the area. The solution also enables the Tohmajärvi area to quickly transition to the use of hydrogen when the need becomes relevant,” says Vikke Saarelainen, Executi
