The President of the Republic of Mozambique to make working visit to Finland

President of the Republic of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi will pay a working visit to Finland on 16–17 November 2022. The visit will be hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö.

President Niinistö and President Nyusi will hold official discussions in the Presidential Palace on Wednesday morning. In addition to bilateral relations between Finland and Mozambique, topics will include Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Mozambique’s future membership of the UN Security Council, food security issues and climate change. Following their discussions, the Presidents will hold a joint press conference.

On Wednesday, President Nyusi’s programme also includes meetings with Speaker of Parliament Matti Vanhanen, Prime Minister Sanna Marin and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto.

On Thursday, 17 November, President Nyusi will speak at a seminar on business opportunities between Mozambique and Finland organised by Business Finland, and visit Finnish companies. In addition, he will become acquainted with the Finnish education system at University of Helsinki Viikki Normal School and Omnia, the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo region. Mozambique is a long-term development cooperation partner of Finland. In particular, Finland has supported the development of basic education in Mozambique.

The previous Presidential visit from Mozambique to Finland took place in 2008, when President Tarja Halonen hosted the state visit of President Armando Guebuza.
