Varma’s Annual and CSR Report has been published

Varma has been reporting on its operations systematically for a long time, disclosing, for example, individual investments in its portfolio as part of the financial statements.

“Companies are expected to communicate more proactively and transparently. This year we focussed on reporting more clearly about the execution and achievements of Varma’s strategy and goals, and on describing in greater detail the areas that need to be developed,” says Communications Manager Leena Rantasalo.

Corporate responsibility is a key part of Varma’s core task – securing pensions – and strategy. The company has been developing corporate social responsibility (CSR) decisively for three years now. The goal is to be the most responsible company in the earnings-related pension sector.

“In 2017, we made solid progress in different areas of responsible operations, such as responsible investments and supply chain, and in fostering a work culture based on equality. We elaborate on these actions and the principles that steer our responsibility in our report,” says Sustainability Manager Katariina Sillander.

“In recent years, we at Varma have taken major leaps forward in CSR work. We cannot rest on our laurels, however, since regulation and stakeholder expectations are rapidly changing. That is why we will carry out a new stakeholder survey in 2018, which will be used to update our CSR targets”, Sillander adds.

The Annual and CSR report covers Varma’s main results for 2017 in terms of the implementation of our strategy and achievement of our targets, as well as the company’s responsible actions from the perspectives of pension asset, our customers, our personnel and the environment.
