DNA’s mobile network the first in Finland to reach an ultra-high speed of 600 Mbps

The base station located in the Karuby village in Siuntio utilises a new three-frequency technology based on LTE, 256 QAM and Ericsson Lean Carrier. New functionalities will increase the mobile network’s capacity and speed, further enhancing the user experience associated with various mobile data applications.

Terminal devices supporting this ultra-high speed should enter the market by the end of the year. However, the Ericsson Lean Carrier technology, which considerably reduces network disruptions and therefore increases average data transmission rates, operates on all terminals. The new functionalities will be introduced in DNA’s 4G network across Finland during 2016.

According to a recent survey by Omnitele, DNA provides the fastest mobile broadband in almost all of Finland’s most populous towns and cities. Earlier this week, DNA also set a record in fixed network broadband speed. ​DNA broke the 3.055 Gbit/s speed record in a live production network for the first time in Europe. The speed record was broken with the next-generation Docsis 3.1 technology.
