Nordic EV charging frontrunners Kempower and Virta partner up to accelerate the ramp-up of fast-charging services in Europe

As part of the collaboration, Virta starts providing Kempower DC fast chargers for its customers in the European markets. The Virta smart charging platform enables public and private players to run and monetize their fast-charging services for EV drivers.
First fast-charging hubs with Kempower DC fast chargers will be installed for Virta customers in Sweden and Finland during the summer, followed by France, Germany, and the UK.
With a local supply chain and production in Finland, the companies are close to both the Nordic and European electric vehicle markets, enabling smooth delivery, commissioning, and operations for customers.
Virta is one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies for the third consecutive year, according to the Financial Times Europe’s 1000 fastest growing companies ranking published in March 2022. Currently, over one thousand customers in more than 30 countries run their EV charging services on Virta smart charging platform, making it one of the biggest networks in Europe.
Kempower, listed in the Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finland, has seen strong growth in recent years, gaining a strong foothold in the Nordics and Europe. In 2021, the Lahti-based company’s revenue growth was 741%, reaching EUR 27.4 million, driven by strong demand across Europe.
“We’re excited to join forces with Virta to bring our scalable, modular and user-friendly fast charging solutions to EV drivers across Europe. It is also great to work with another Finnish technology company to support the growth and success of both businesses,” said Tomi Ristimäki, CEO of Kempower.
”We chose Kempower as our partner because of its unique DC fast-charging solution and the high quality of its products. The Virta smart charging platform paired with Kempower’s chargers provide Charging Hub Operators unique flexibility and scalability, enabling a fast launch of operations and easy expansion of the charging capacity in the future. European EV sales growth calls urgently for more extensive fast charging services, and with this collaboration, we’re ready to answer the challenge,” added Jussi Palola, CEO of Virta.
