The renewed website syke.fi showcases Syke's research areas and services. It offers current environmental information and various tools for open environmental data. The improved search features help in finding the right expert and exploring projects. The usability of the service has also been enhanced, and its visual appeal modernised.

"In the renewal, we particularly considered the needs and wishes of the service's active users. The content was made more readable, and the discoverability of information was improved. Additionally, syke.fi was built to better reflect our current operations and their focus areas. We hope that the service provides our stakeholders and partners with an interesting view of our diverse activities in sustainability transformation," says communication director Kirsi Norros.

The user base of syke.fi is broad. It serves the media, researchers, research funders, international partners, decision-makers, and officials in public administration, as well as anyone interested in the Finnish Environment Institute's activities and work towards sustainability transformation.

Highlighting sustainability transformation research and tools

On syke.fi, you can explore the Finnish Environment Institute's research and services, browse press releases and news, delve into various tools and materials for environmental data, and view Syke's publications. Syke's experts also voice their insights in the Ratkaisuja blog series. Additionally, the service features Syke's open positions and information about Syke as an employer.

The most popular content on the syke.fi service has been open information. After the renewal, open information content can be found in the environmental data section, which has been expanded with other useful content. The section comprehensively includes various map and data services, calculators, downloadable spatial data, open interfaces, and monitoring data.

"At the Finnish Environment Institute, we collect data and information to support the promotion of a sustainable environment. We offer the collected information as widely and openly as possible for the use of people and society. Various open environmental data services are conveniently available on syke.fi. They can be utilised by researchers, decision-makers, companies, and citizens alike," says digitalisation director Kari Lahti.

Syke.fi also serves as a window to other online services maintained by Syke and its partners, which provide more detailed information on various environmental topics. From the site, for example, you can navigate to the number-one location for reliable and researched environmental data environment.fi, the Baltic Sea information service marinefinland.fi, or the water information site waterinfo.fi.

Give feedback on the renewal

In the renewal, the user interface and some of the content of syke.fi have been updated. The service has been modernised to reflect Syke's current organisation and operating environment. The user experience and accessibility have been improved, and the content has been clarified. Additionally, the service's appearance has been updated. The site, with its fresh new look, presents content more visually and also makes navigation easier.

The content of syke.fi will continue to be supplemented, especially the Swedish and English pages of the service. You can provide feedback about the service using the feedback form on our website.

The partner in the renewal of syke.fi has been Wunder Finland Oy (user interface and technical implementation). The syke.fi website has been renewed as part of a broad renewal of Syke's online services from 2022 to 2025.

Muovien kiertotaloudessa on nähtävissä edistystä. Suomen tavoitteena on saavuttaa muovien kestävä kiertotalous vuoteen 2030 mennessä.
