Can the net look good? DNA to introduce stylish modem cases

DNA will be launching birch veneer modem cases in April. The cases will be made in Finland from Finnish birch at the Piiroinen factory in Salo. They will not only serve as a conversation starter, but will also lead to better device placement: your internet connection works better when you place your modem in a central location in your home.

A limited number of birch veneer modem cases will initially be available from DNA Stores. The new cases have been designed for the DNA Kotimokkula 5G, which enables you to share a wireless internet connection with multiple devices at once. This mobile modem provides a high-speed 5G connection for your home, is simple to set up and can easily be placed anywhere.

“According to our Digital Life survey, just under a third of Finns have experienced challenges with their internet connection. However, less than a third of those who have experienced difficulties have attempted to solve the problem by placing their modem higher than floor level or as centrally as possible, so that the signal can better reach connected devices. By introducing these stylish new cases, we want to encourage people to put their modem centre stage, as its location has a big impact on internet functionality,” says Jussi Lahdenperä, Head of Consumer Broadband.

“For example, if you hide your WiFi modem in an electrical cabinet with all the other wires, both the signal and quality of your internet connection will be significantly weakened. But these stylish modems mean that you don’t have to compromise on interior decor either – you can place your modem in pride of place in your home,” says Lahdenperä.

The family-owned company Piiroinen manufactures modem cases made of Finnish birch in Salo. Piiroinen is known for its technically and materially high-quality and responsibly produced design furniture.

"Both Piiroinen and DNA want to provide excellent service and high-quality products to their customers, which makes our collaboration particularly fruitful. The molded birch veneer cases we produce for DNA combine timeless design with high quality. The stylish and sustainably produced cases enhance the appearance of modems, and their better placement, in turn, promotes the functionality of the internet," says Piiroinen's Production Manager Minna Halminen.

The modem is the heart of your home network, and DNA's modems and mobile modems have been optimised to work seamlessly in DNA’s network. In addition to attractive cases, DNA also provides its modem customers with a quality guarantee. DNA’s Laatutakuu includes continuous software updates and preconfigured security settings to ensure that your device is secure, reliable and always up to date.

“All the products that we offer are carefully selected and meet strict quality standards. Data security is of paramount importance to us, and continuous software updates and preconfigured security settings ensure that your devices remain secure. Thanks to DNA’s quality guarantee, modems also have an extended three-year warranty, which is one year longer than an equipment supplier’s typical two-year warranty,” says Lahdenperä.

Although the birch veneer cases will initially be offered to customers who purchase new 5G mobile modems, it will eventually be possible to buy them separately for existing modems. In the spring, DNA will also start offering modem purchasers fabric cases made from recycled materials.

DNA and Nepa’s jointly produced  Digital Life survey was conducted using an online panel in spring 2024. This survey aims to determine how Finns use different digital services and find out about their experience of digital inclusion. The annual survey received 1,018 responses from Finns over the age of 15. The survey has been conducted since 2013.

An expert from DNA explains why everyone should create a summary of the digital services they use.
