Audio quality surpasses screen size in viewing experience – Rear speakers now available for DNA Entertainment Box
15.9.2025 08:15:00 EEST | DNA Oyj | Press release
Finns are increasingly embracing diverse and immersive home entertainment experiences. Streaming services have become a staple of everyday life, and as a result, investing in home audio systems has emerged as a significant trend. Sound quality has now overtaken screen size as the most important feature in viewing experiences. On 15 September 2025, DNA will be the first in the Nordics to launch dedicated rear speakers for its Dolby Atmos-enabled Entertainment Box. This innovation responds to growing consumer demand for an easy and effortless way to enhance home entertainment quality without complex installation.

The importance of sound is particularly evident in the evolving ways entertainment is consumed. DNA has observed that users now consider audio quality even more important than screen size when watching content. The Entertainment Box with speakers is a compact device that supports modern standards for both picture and sound quality. The newly launched rear speakers add significant value especially for music listening, gaming, and movie watching. The speakers connect wirelessly to the Entertainment Box, and special attention has been paid to ease of setup.
According to DNA’s annual Digital Life survey, free streaming services have become the most popular channel for watching content. Across all age groups, over 60 percent of people watch content via free streaming platforms, with the highest popularity among those aged 45–74.
A challenger even for home theater systems
“Streaming has become the new norm, where high-quality sound is an essential part of the overall experience. In a customer survey conducted a couple of years ago, nearly 32 percent of respondents reported using a separate audio system from their TV, and this share has continued to grow. Consumers are seeking more immersive, cinema-level sound experiences at home and are willing to invest in them. With the DNA Entertainment Box, we aim to challenge traditional home theater solutions by enhancing the surround sound experience with easy-to-use rear speakers”, says Mikko Saarentaus, Vice President, TV Business at DNA.
The rise of surround sound in digital content consumption has also been driven by the growing popularity of audio-based content such as podcasts and audiobooks, alongside music services like Spotify and YouTube Music. Content producers have played a role in this shift as well. Major production companies such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Apple, and Universal now produce a significant portion of their content in Dolby Atmos surround sound format.
“We know that in many countries, music listening has steadily increased on devices similar to the DNA Entertainment Box. Consuming audio-based entertainment has been made easy and secure, as our customers can use a single device to both stream their favorite apps and play sound directly through it. This is a key differentiator compared to traditional smart TVs. We want to offer consumers impactful surround sound experiences, and the rear speakers add meaningful value in response to this demand”, Saarentaus adds.
DNA rear speakers for the Entertainment Box will be available starting on 15 September 2025.
