Christmas is being celebrated at Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff’s House Museum with festive table settings and events. Visitors have been able to experience old-time Christmases at the Museum since 2018.
“Christmas at the Museum has become an annual tradition, one eagerly awaited by visitors, and we want to honour that. We have a unique ambiance here, in which you can admire the Yuletide celebrations in a genteel home of more than a century ago,” says Museum Director Kirsi Eskelinen.
In the 19th century, splendid, lavish festive table settings became common in the homes of the gentry, and now you can see them in the House Museum. The Empire Room has a sweet table and a teatime table. It’s coffee time in the Gustavian Salon and Christmas dinner is laid out in the Dining Room. The Friends of the Sinebrychoff Art Museum joined us in designing table settings in the style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Besides celebratory table settings and decorations, the Museum takes us into Christmas with dramatic scenes performed by guides and music. At the House Museum on Saturdays, you can meet Paul himself, his wife Fanny, and housekeeper Alma. They are getting ready for Christmas by working at their own pastimes, while at the same time entertaining Museum visitors. Drama guides bring the Museum to life with short dramatic scenes and chat with the public. In the role of Fanny Sinebrychoff is Riitta Ojamaa, Paul Sinebrychoff is played by Antti Solin, and housekeeper Alma by Emmi Halmesvirta.
In the House Museum you can enjoy the nostalgic Christmas atmosphere and admire the style furniture, rare objects, and the extensive collection – with the accent on old European art – amassed by Fanny and Paul Sinebrychoff. Or book a “Christmas Spirit” guided tour of the House Museum for your group. The Museum shop sells lovely gifts and decorations to add to your Christmas revels. Entrance to the House Museum is free of charge.

Ensi vuonna Sinebrychoffin taidemuseossa on esillä kolme vaihtuvaa näyttelyä. Ensimmäisenä avautuvassa Yö-näyttelyssä tarkastellaan mystistä vuorokaudenaikaa ja tunnelmaan virittäydytään runouden avulla. Maaliskuussa avautuu Anna Sinebrychoff – Edelläkävijä -näyttely, jossa esitellään museon historiaan kiinteästi liittyvä poikkeuksellinen nainen, joka hallitsi Sinebrychoffien panimoa 1800-luvun lopulla. Syyskuussa vuoden kansainvälisessä näyttelyssä matkustetaan 1600-luvun Roomaan Mathias Withoosin johdolla ja tutustutaan elämäniloa pulppuavaan Bentvueghels-taiteilijaryhmään.
In 2026, the Sinebrychoff Art Museum exhibitions will evoke the atmosphere of nighttime, profile a successful businesswoman of the 19th century, and introduce us to the boisterous life of artists in Rome in the 17th century.27.11.2025 09:23:57 EET | Press release
Next year, the Sinebrychoff Art Museum will host three temporary exhibitions. Night – the first to open – examines this mysterious time of day, attuning us to its atmospheres with the aid of poetry. The Anna Sinebrychoff - Ahead of Her Time exhibition opens in March, spotlighting an exceptional woman closely tied to the Museum’s own history, and who ran the Sinebrychoff Brewery at the end of the 19th century. In September, the year’s international exhibition takes us on a journey to 17th-century Rome, led by the artist Mathias Withoos, and introduces us to the Bentvueghels artists’ group, who bubble over with joie de vivre.
