The new DNA Huoleton mobile and broadband subscriptions, as well as Varma business subscriptions, have attracted significant interest. They include secure internet browsing, a feature that prevents customers from accessing harmful websites. Secure internet browsing is an effective safeguard against online scams, and during the past six months from May to October it has already blocked 7,6 million scam attempts for subscription users.

Scams often look so convincing that distinguishing them from genuine messages and websites can be challenging. Secure internet browsing protects users from fraudulent online stores and malicious websites that may spread malware or attempt to steal personal information. The feature provides virtually real-time protection, stopping users from visiting suspicious sites and preventing harm before it occurs.

“Scams have become industrialized and identifying them is increasingly difficult. Secure internet browsing is a concrete example of how we can improve our customers’ cybersecurity easily and effectively, while also combating cybercrime across society,” says Heidi Havastila, Head of Value Added Services at DNA.

Through the service included in DNA Huoleton and Varma subscriptions 7,6 million scam attempts have been blocked on DNA’s network over the past six months. In October alone, secure internet browsing prevented access to scam sites 3,3 million times. Of the blocked sites, 91 percent were various scams and 9 percent malware.

“These figures clearly show that the feature provides consumers with much-needed, comprehensive protection against the ever-growing threats online. The number of blocked scam sites increased by about 47 percent in October compared to the previous month. The volume of scam attempts prevented by secure internet browsing alone is significant - around 100,000 blocked attempts per day,” Havastila adds.

DNA continuously works to enhance digital security. In addition to the scam attempts blocked through Huoleton and Varma subscriptions, 7 million scam calls and text messages have been prevented in 2025 as part of DNA’s extensive cybersecurity efforts.

Secure internet browsing is included free of charge in all DNA Huoleton mobile and broadband subscriptions for cunsumers, DNA Prepaid subscriptions, and DNA Varma subscriptions for businesses. DNA is the only provider to offer this service for broadband connections as well. The feature works on both fixed and mobile networks but must be activated by the user. For home broadband, it also protects all connected devices, whether a computer, smartphone, or tablet. In business subscriptions, it safeguards the employee and, by extension, the company’s data.
