Hydrogen Valley Podcast looks at what is needed for the hydrogen economy to develop
The BalticSeaH2 project has launched the Hydrogen Valley Podcast, a podcast series focusing on the practical conditions required for the development of the hydrogen economy. The series examines the hydrogen economy as a systemic and long-term transformation rather than a short-term trend.

Why are the opportunities for the hydrogen economy emerging now, and not ten years ago? What applications does hydrogen genuinely make sense for – and where does it not? Why do investment decisions take time?
The podcast looks at why hydrogen has become a central part of industrial and energy discussions in recent years, and what is required for the hydrogen economy to progress in practice. The first episodes focus in particular on the convergence of investments, policy, and technological development, as well as on the factors that may enable or slow down the development of hydrogen value chains. Topics include regulation, incentives, investments, and the relationship between hydrogen and existing energy systems.
The Hydrogen Valley Podcast is part of the BalticSeaH2 project’s communication activities. BalticSeaH2 develops a cross-border hydrogen economy in the Baltic Sea region by connecting renewable energy production, industry, and infrastructure. In addition to supporting industrial decarbonisation, the project contributes to system-level considerations such as energy security and security of supply by strengthening regional value chains and reducing dependency on imported fossil fuels. The project aims to strengthen the conditions for the development of the hydrogen economy at regional and European levels.
The podcast provides space for analytical and realistic discussion on hydrogen, without overpromising. Its purpose is to increase understanding of what building a hydrogen economy requires from technological, policy, and market perspectives.
The first episodes are available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
