Invitation for media: Announcement of the winner of the Ars Fennica 2025 prize

Media representatives are warmly welcome to the announcement of the winner of the Ars Fennica 2025 prize at HAM Helsinki Art Museum on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:30AM. The winner of the Visitors’ Choice title will also be announced at the event. The winner or winners will be present at the ceremony.

Ars Fennica is a contemporary art prize awarded every two years and one of the largest in the Nordic countries. The 50,000 euro prize is open to Finnish, Nordic, and Baltic artists. The prize is awarded by the Henna and Pertti Niemistö Art Foundation – ARS FENNICA sr. 

The nominees for the Ars Fennica 2025 prize are Ragna Bley, Roland Persson, Jani Ruscica, and Hanna Vihriälä. The winner is selected by international art expert Mami Kataoka, Director of the Mori Art Museum. Visitors can also vote for their favourite until January 18, 2026.

Ars Fennica 2025 prize winner announcement

Time: Tuesday February 10 at 11:30AM

Location: HAM Helsinki Art Museum, Eteläinen Rautatiekatu 8

Registrations: By Monday February 9 at 12 noon: maarit.kivisto@hamhelsinki.fi 

The announcement event will be attended by the prize winner, the winner of the Visitors' Choice, the chair of the prize jury Leena Niemistö, and HAM Helsinki Art Museum Director Arja Miller.

The group exhibition presenting the candidates’ works is on display at HAM Helsinki Art Museum from October 24, 2025, to March 29, 2026.

A new public artwork by the photographic artist Noora Sandgren has been installed in the renovated Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall. The work consists of six photographic works on glass, and welcomes visitors to the swimming hall on the stone wall of the entrance. Water Bodies is a celebration of the life-giving power of water and the interaction between different organisms.
