From energy to AI and industrial solutions – Sähkö–Electricity promises an extensive programme

The event will be opened on Wednesday 15 April at 9:50 by Veronica Lindholm, the newly appointed CEO of Messukeskus Helsinki. Later in the morning, the Luminord lighting design competition will award its €5,000 + €5,000 prize, funded by the Finnish Fair Foundation and STEK.

The event’s opening address at 12:00 will be delivered by the Minister of the Environment and Climate, Sari Multala.

On Wednesday afternoon, Siemens opens the English‑language programme with two expert talks on the future of power systems. Dr Kalle Rauma outlines why simulation is becoming essential for guiding the evolving energy system, followed by Jussi Mäntynen’s presentation on how digital twins and advanced grid technologies support resilience and sustainability.

On Thursday, robotics pioneer Matti Tikanmäki explores the real capabilities of humanoids and AI in industrial environments, after which Phoenix Contact’s Tobias Lüke introduces the practical advances of DC grids and what they mean for modern building energy systems. The theme of electrification continues with Mäntynen’s second session, focusing on how IoT‑ready infrastructure and software solutions can increase grid capacity without extensive physical investments.

Sustainability features strongly in the Friday programme: SG Armaturen’s Audun Skare demonstrates how product level LCA and verified EPD data offer clearer, lower risk decisions across the lighting value chain.

On the event’s main stage, the Power Stage, the programme will be presented in both Finnish and English. On the event website, visitors can browse the programme and compile their own list of favourites.

Hands‑on tech and high‑energy moments

At Messukeskus Helsinki, the exhibition will feature, among other highlights, a full building frame where exhibitors showcase the latest electrical technologies. Visitors can also step into the robot room to meet the humanoid “Arska” in person, while a specially created light installation brings atmosphere – and electrical energy – to life in a striking visual form. The Wednesday and Thursday Afterwork events will bring visitors, exhibitors and partners together to round off the day with relaxed networking. Expect electrifying energy and top‑class vibes: Darude sets the mood at Wednesday’s Afterwork, followed on Thursday by Michael Monroe.

A dedicated Virtapiiri area for electrical engineering students

Young professionals and future talent are an important audience for the companies participating in the event. The stage programme offers students up‑to‑date insights directly from industry experts, and a dedicated Virtapiiri area will be built specifically for them, hosted by Henkka Lindeman.

“Virtapiiri gives student groups the chance to test products hands‑on and explore their installability with guidance from manufacturer specialists. Additional motivation comes from a task‑station pass: those who complete it can enter a draw for product prizes. For teaching groups, this creates a meaningful and experience‑rich study day,” says Sallamaari Muhonen, CEO of STK ry.

Sähkö–Electricity 26 is a new, international‑level three‑day trade event held at Messukeskus Helsinki from 15 to 17 April 2026, and thereafter every two years. Alongside Messukeskus, the event has been developed together with major industry companies including ABB, Siemens, Sonepar, Ahlsell and Airam.
