Gyöngyi Kovács and Kim Ittonen are appointed deans for a three-year term starting on 1 August 2026. Kovács will concentrate on research, while Ittonen will be responsible for education, and also represents the university’s Vaasa campus.

In addition to the two deans, four associate deans were appointed. Christina Dahlblom will continue as associate dean for executive education and corporate relations, while Nikodemus Solitander will continue as associate dean responsible for sustainability. Sören Kock was appointed as a new associate dean responsible for the ENGAGE.EU collaboration, and Sofia Stolt is the new associate dean responsible for pedagogical development and language policy.

The associate deans are also appointed for a three-year term from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2029. However, the terms of Christina Dahlblom and Sören Kock will end already on 31 July 2028.

“The current situation in the university sector places high demands on renewal and collaboration, both within the university and with the surrounding society. With this newly appointed rectorate and its broad range of expertise, Hanken is well positioned to continue developing as an internationally competitive business school with strong ties to the business community,” says Ingmar Björkman, rector of Hanken School of Economics.
