Exhibition Centre WeeGee the third most popular Museum Card destination in 2022

The exhibition on Mauri Kunnas’ life work and extensive production opened on the 2nd floor of WeeGee in October. The exhibition attracted as many as 34,864 visitors during the first three months. The Mauri Kunnas exhibition is permanently on display at the Exhibition Centre and will be complemented in the future by new elements and varying seasonal content and events. Rich in content, the interactive exhibition has been a favourite among families with children. Thus, WeeGee had a record number of underage visitors in October.
Designed by architect Matti Suuronen in the 1960s, the Futuro house has delighted summer visitors in the backyard of WeeGee for 10 years already. The utopian plastic house also attracted a record audience of 18,872 visitors during the summer.
Exhibition Centre WeeGee is a cultural destination in Tapiola, Espoo, consisting of EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, KAMU Espoo City Museum, the Mauri Kunnas exhibition and the Futuro house.
At the beginning of January, both the museums of the Exhibition Centre reported a record number of visitors. EMMA attracted a total of 170,822 visitors during the year. KAMU WeeGee attracted 61,420 visitors and was the second most popular visitor destination among the five Espoo City Museum sites, immediately after the Glims Farmstead Museum.
“The number of visitors to Exhibition Centre WeeGee in 2022 returned to the growth path before the corona pandemic. WeeGee’s exhibitions last year were topical and attractive, with a record number of visitors flocking to Tapiola, Espoo. All Exhibition Centre operators have produced high-quality content, providing an exciting package for our visitors,” says Piia Lääveri, Production Manager at Exhibition Centre WeeGee.
