Tapio Wirkkala – Form will be introduced to the media on Tuesday, 4 October, at 10 am. The media event will be hosted simultaneously online and in-person at EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art. The language of the event will be Finnish.

You can follow the streaming of the event on Zoom via this link. Members of the media will have the opportunity to present questions via live stream chat.  

At the event, architect and exhibition curator Juhani Pallasmaa will be interviewed by EMMA’s Chief Curator Henna Paunu. An address will also be given by Pilvi Kalhama, EMMA’s Director and Katarina Siltavuori, Chairperson of the Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation.

EMMA is proud to present Form, a show curated by architect Juhani Pallasmaa that explores Tapio Wirkkala’s sculptural output. Produced in collaboration with the Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation, the show highlights Wirkkala’s unique range as a hugely versatile artist and designer. 

Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) is a leading figure in the trajectory of modern Finnish design. He was uniquely gifted across the various fields of applied and fine art, using a range of materials and scales in his work. Wirkkala was a visionary who used and developed new methods and means of manufacture, both in his unique sculptures and in industrial mass production.
