DNA launched a 5G network in Ylivieska – population coverage is approaching 1.5 million
The new base stations offer 5G coverage extensively in and around central Ylivieska; at least in Hollihaka, Kaisaniemi, Niemenranta, Puuhkala, Toivonpuisto, Hakalahti, Koskipuhto, Kivioja and Alpuminkangas.
“I’m very happy to welcome the residents of Ylivieska to enjoy DNA’s 5G services. At first, the service is available in the city centre area, with expansions coming later on. At the same time, the updates we have made also strengthen our already fast 4G network in this area,” says Jarkko Laari, Director, Radio Networks, DNA.
In addition to Ylivieska, DNA’s comprehensive 5G services are available in Espoo, Heinola, Helsinki, Hyvinkää, Hämeenlinna, Jyväskylä, Kauniainen, Kuopio, Lahti, Lieto, Nokia, Oulu, Pirkkala, Pori, Raahe, Raisio, Rauma, Rusko, Seinäjoki, Sipoo, Tampere, Turku, Vaasa, Vantaa and Ylöjärvi.
In addition to these municipalities, DNA’s 5G network reaches the areas of up to 39 other municipalities with a more local coverage, which means that it’s possible to use DNA’s 5G connection in up to 65 municipalities. However, the network in these 39 locations has mainly been built for the needs of Koti 5G customers, for example, with residential areas as the priority. DNA announces new 5G locations when the network also serves the region’s most densely populated areas.
DNA’s 5G network coverage is quickly approaching 1.5 million Finns, and the objective will be reached within the next two months. The network will be expanded especially in the already-existing 5G municipalities, although openings will also be made in completely new areas. The objective for the rest of the year is to launch a 5G network in at least Järvenpää, Kaarina, Kangasala, Kerava, Naantali, Nurmijärvi and Hyrylä in Tuusula.
