Childbirth services in Lohja and Hyvinkää hospitals will close temporarily due to strike
HUS closes the childbirth services in Lohja and Hyvinkää hospitals temporarily. The reason for the closure is inadequate number of skeleton staff.
Lohja and Hyvinkää hospitals do not admit new patients for labor and delivery after 1 p.m. on April 19, 2022. This closure does not affect patients already admitted for labor and delivery, or other services in the hospitals.
Women giving birth should go to Espoo Hospital, or to Women’s Hospital in Helsinki. Before leaving for the hospital, they must call the maternity hospital.
The duration of the closure will be assessed throughout the strike.
The second strike organized the nurses unions Tehy and SuPer will begin on April 20 at 6:00 a.m. and it will effect emergency and urgent care of patients in several HUS hospital and units. More detailed information will be provided later on as the plans are confirmed.
