Trade Union JHL’s strike on 14 December is further expanding: industrial actions in dozens of locations around Finland
The strike will have a wide impact on for instance catering services, buses, cleaning, and sports facilities. JHL has already previously notified of strikes in train traffic and power plants.

On 14 December, the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL will organise an extensive political strike. There are dozens of strike locations in several cities, from Lapland to the Helsinki Metropolitan Region. A list of all the locations is attached.
The trade union’s strike will have a significant impact on, say, buses, school and day care centre catering, cleaning of public areas, and sports facilities. In addition, the JHL members working for Finavia at Turku Airport will be involved in the strike.
JHL has already previously notified of a one-day strike that will in practice stop Finland’s train traffic on Thursday 14 December. On the same day, JHL is organising an industrial action targeting power plants in Vantaa, Espoo, Tampere, Naantali and Pietarsaari. In addition, a number of JHL members from Tampereen Vera Oy will be involved in the energy sector strike on 14 December. The company constructs, maintains and services the electric power network.
JHL is also declaring a ban on overtime and shift swaps, and a temporary transfer ban, in nearly all the strike locations for 11–14 December 2023. The bans do not apply to VR Group or Finavia’s strike location in Turku.
During the autumn and early winter, Trade Union JHL has organised several political strikes that oppose the Government’s unfair policy. The Government of Finland is planning to weaken social security and basic employee rights dramatically. JHL’s strikes are a part of central organisation SAK’s Serious Grounds campaign.
