The number of bankruptcies and business closures has increased, and this is also reflected in the Yrittäjän talousapu counselling service providing financial counselling to entrepreneurs. Nearly 1,500 people have already contacted the service in the first half of the year.

Nearly 1,500 contacts in early 2025

The number of bankruptcies spiked in the early part of the year, with the number of bankruptcies setting a new record for the 2000s. The economic situation has also been reflected in the Yrittäjän talousapu counselling service.

“Almost 1,500 people had contacted the Yrittäjän talousapu counselling service for entrepreneurs by the end of April. Even more than usual, entrepreneurs are currently asking us about closing their businesses, bankruptcy, debt restructuring, and company reorganisation. It would be best for companies to seek assistance as early as possible, when it is still possible to turn the company’s finances around. On the other hand, there is no point in continuing an unprofitable business if there are no prospects of improved profitability in the near future," says Development Manager Jari Leskinen.

Yrittäjän talousapu provides free and confidential advice to entrepreneurs

The Yrittäjän talousapu counselling service provides telephone advice to entrepreneurs about financial and payment difficulties or, for example, improving the profitability of their company. Telephone advice is sufficient in most cases. If additional assistance is needed, the counselling service will refer the entrepreneur to the service that best suits their needs. For example, regional Yrittäjän talousapu counselling services offer face-to-face support around Finland. The Yrittäjän talousapu counselling service is provided by the KEHA Center and is being developed as part of the European Early Warning model.
